Associate Superintendent for Finance and District Operations

Terms of Employment:    12 month according to Board Policy

Job Classification:           Certified 

FLSA Status:                    Exempt

Compensation:                Reviewed and established annually by the Board of Education

 

Qualifications:

Education: Masters Degree and Education Specialist degree (Ed.S) required; from an approved institution with a major in educational administration.

Certification:  Nebraska Department of Education Superintendent Administrative Certificate required, Specialist or Doctorate required.

Experience: Minimum five year Superintendent experience and with Nebraska job related experience developing,implementing and maintaining a Nebraska school budget

 

Job Summary:

The Associate Superintendent for Finance and Operations is responsible for overseeing the financial management, accounting procedures, and operational systems of the school district. This role ensures the district’s compliance with applicable budgeting, financial, accounting and state and federal regulations. Supervises assigned classified staff and coordinates food service operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management:
    • Oversee all financial management and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with state auditors, federal regulations, and the district's financial policies.
    • Develop and maintain up-to-date financial accounting systems that meet regulatory requirements.
    • Control daily budget management and provide timely, accurate reports to relevant agencies.
    • Coordinates with the Superintendent and the State of Nebraska for application, use and reimbursement of all grants within the state and locally.
    • Keep the superintendent and board informed about the district's financial status and salary negotiations.
  2. Operational Oversight:
    • Coordinate food service programs and oversee the Food Service Manager to ensure compliance with health standards.
    • Oversee district facilities as well as safety regulations and recommending budget items for improvement.
  3. Transportation Management:
    • Supervise the maintenance and safety inspection of the district's transportation equipment, ensuring proper reporting and compliance with travel regulations.
    • Ensure compliance with all federal transportation regulations.
  4. Certified/Classified Staff Administration:
    • Directly supervise classified staff, communicate district policies, maintain the classified handbook, and resolve employee-related issues.
    • Set compensation schedules and provide necessary salary information to the board and administration.
    • Collaborates with the board for negotiations.
  5. Technology Oversight:
    • Coordinate with the Technology Director recommending a budget for software and hardware solutions that align with the district’s goals and ensuring compliance with security standards.
  6. Program Management:
    • Manage all local, state, and federal programs, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
    • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.

 

Evaluation

Superintendent shall evaluate Associate Superintendent in accordance with Certified Handbook and this Job Description.
