Degree Requirement: Have a current Nebraska teaching certificate with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or Early Childhood Education Inclusive; in addition, MS degree in Educational Administration.

Purpose Statement: The job of the Buffalo Early Learning Center Principal is done for the purpose/s of providing Instructional Leadership and program coordination amongst the Early Childhood programs for NPPSD; provide assigned administrative and supervisory duties; direct special education programs and services; provide information and serve as a resource to all staff; achieve defined objectives by planning, evaluating, developing, implementing and maintaining services in compliance with NPPSD as well as state and federal guidelines; ensuring effective support and operation of the building and all services; serve as a member of NPPSD Leadership team AdCo.
- Essential Functions
- Collaborate with internal and external personnel (e.g. other administrators, auditors, public agencies, community members, etc.) for implementing and/or maintaining services and programs.
- Compile data from a wide variety of sources (e.g. staff, public agencies, etc.) for implementing policies and procedures and/or monitoring program components.
- Assign Individual Educational Plan (IEP) case managers as well as student classroom placements.
- Monitor screening results, data, initial evaluation timelines and performance to ensure students receive appropriate support and assets for educational success.
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, professional development seminars, etc. (e.g. financial procedures, regulatory requirements, community or outside agencies, interdepartmental needs, etc.) for identifying issues, developing recommendations, supporting other staff, and serving as a District representative.

- Implement professional learning opportunities to staff for providing the learning and knowledge necessary for professional improvement on Fridays at Buffalo
- Maintain SPED requirements and grant requirements for ensuring program compliance.
- Monitor budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances and related financial activities for ensuring that allocations are accurate, revenues are recorded, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.
- Determine eligibility for at-risk funds and placement as stipulated in the early childhood grants.
- Participate in a variety of meetings (e.g. workshops, inter and intra district committees, community and public agencies, seminars, conferences, etc.) for conveying and gathering information regarding a wide variety of subjects required to carry out their administrative responsibilities.
- Determine placement of special education students and peer models while ensuring appropriate student ratios in classrooms.
- Assist in the preparations of a wide variety of often complex materials (e.g. plans, budgets, funding requests, reports, analyses, recommendations, procedures, etc.) for documenting activities and issues, meeting compliance requirements, providing audit references, making presentations, and/or providing supporting materials for requested actions.
- Provide ongoing collaboration of infant toddler services and parents as a teacher program for ensuring implementation of early childhood learning outcomes.
- Research a variety of topics (e.g. grants, community service organizations, etc.) for being knowledgeable on trends and changes and/or making recommendations.
- Respond to inquiries of staff, district personnel, other professional organizations, etc. for providing information and/or direction as may be required.
- Serve as a resource to district personnel and as a liaison to community agencies (e.g. district committees, interagency boards,etc.) for explaining procedures conveying and/or receiving information as needed for the planning, developing and evaluating of services related to child care.
