NPPSD is seeking a dynamic, equity-focused Adaptive Physical Education (PE) teacher to join our school community, specifically to support students with special education needs, in a public school setting. As a member of the team, you will work to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with the IEP team, ensuring that both academic requirements and social-emotional competencies are incorporated into each student's plan. You will implement and monitor these IEPs while adhering to federal, state and school guidelines.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about creating an inclusive learning environment for all students, including those with diverse learning needs. You will be expected to differentiate instruction to engage students, adjust your teaching strategies to meet the varied needs of students, and work collaboratively with other school staff to support each student’s success. You will also play a key role in expanding the curriculum and classroom opportunities for students by helping school staff interpret students' abilities and providing access to a broader curriculum when possible.
In addition, you will maintain organized records of student progress, parent/guardian communication, instructional supplies, and participate in school meetings and relevant educational conferences. Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about engaging with a diverse group of learners and be committed to examining and addressing systemic inequities in education. You should be a skilled organizer and collaborator who can design and implement engaging, culturally relevant teaching units aligned with Nebraska's curriculum.
At NPPSD, we believe that educational outcomes should not be predictable based on a student’s race, ethnicity, socioeconomics, or learning differences. We are looking for educators who are dedicated to dismantling systems of inequity and who can engage and empower all students to thrive.
Qualified candidates will be notified for an interview, and we encourage you to check for future vacancies if you are not selected. |
